How to use the companion

Begin with a concern you want to understand. Open the Inquiry Register and write its initial Inquiry Brief before asking AI to examine the question. Keep that first version. Add the other documents as their work arises; completing six forms is not a condition of starting.

These resources accompany AI-Augmented Witness Inquiry by Paul Moon, published by Adaptive Leadership Press. They follow the book’s five research stages and six working documents. Make a working copy for your own inquiry and keep this companion package intact so its links remain usable.

Follow the book as you work

Chapters 1–3 establish the method and the practitioner’s learning. Chapter 4 develops the inquiry’s design. Chapters 5–9 undertake Wide Listening, Interpretive Reading, Field Testing, Evaluation and Communal Discernment, and Theological Reflection. Chapters 10–11 connect the evidence, learning, contribution, and report.

Use Appendix A for the forms, Appendix B for AI tasks and examination, Appendix C for the continuing case, and Appendix D for reporting. Appendices E and F retain the method’s background, glossary, and reading guidance. References to numbered sections in these downloads refer to the book.

Examine what AI contributed

Preserve your starting question or interpretation and its reasons. Keep the input and returned response, examine the proposed reasoning against the sources, and explain its effect on the next decision. A contribution may develop an alternative, expose a missing connection, or strengthen an existing judgment. Make that effect visible in the relevant working document and link the exchange in the Sources and AI Register.

The AI Practice Packet supplies fictional material for a separate rehearsal. The Tutti Table file contains fictional research events and selected record excerpts. The complete AI demonstrations preserve actual editorial responses to fictional inputs. Keep these kinds of example distinct when describing what you learned from them.

Keep the original captures available

AWI-AI-Exchanges-Foundations.txt contains F1–F3. AWI-AI-Exchanges-Interpretation.txt contains G1–G2. AWI-AI-Exchanges-Design-to-Reporting.txt contains J4, J5, J7, J8a, J8b, J9, and J10. These files preserve the exact historical capture bytes. The complete demonstrations guide explains their earlier labels and draft references.

Edition and updates

This is Reader Companion Edition 1, dated September 30, 2026. Retain this dated package when later corrections or new examples become available. A newer AI response does not replace a historical exchange cited in the book. The package includes no observed test of AWI’s effectiveness.
